Vijay faces Ashish for singles title

Vijay Sharma of Delhi Audit prevailed over Amit of Accountant General Punjab by 21-15, 23-25, 21-14 in the men's singles semi-final of the North Zone Indian Audit and Account Badminton Tournament at the Sector 42 Badminton Hall here today.

Vijay's opponent for the title will be Ashish Sharma of the Accountant General Punjab, who prevented an all-Delhi Audit affair by ousting Rajiv Sharma 21-16, 21-12 in the men's second semi-final contest.

In the men's team championship, Accountant General of Punjab will lock horns with Delhi Audit in the final tomorrow. In the team championship semi-finals, AG Punjab defeated AG Uttar Pradesh by 3-1 and Delhi Audit ended the challenge of Accountant General Himachal Pradesh by 3-0.

Sawrup Singh of AG Haryana defeated Sudhir Sharma of AG Punjab by 21-16, 21-19 in the veteran's semi-finals.

Results: Veterans (final): Sawrup Singh of AG Haryana bt Sudhir Sharma of AG Punjab 21-16, 21-19. Men's singles (semi-finals): Vijay of Delhi Audit bt Amit of AG Punjab 21-15, 23-25, 21-14, Ashish of AG Punjab bt Rajiv Sharma of Delhi Audit 21-16, 21-12.

Men's doubles (semi-finals): Amit and Ashish of AG Punjab bt Vijay and Deepak of AG HP 21-10, 21-11; Apinderpal Singh and Sunil Yadav of Delhi Audit beat Deepak and Salil of AG UP 23-21, 21-17.

Team Championship (semi-finals): AG Punjab bt AG Uttar Pradesh 3-1 (Amit bt Deepak of 21-16, 21-18, Lav Kumar lost to Sandeep 5-21, 9-21, Amit and Ashish br Anurag and Deepak 21-11, 19-21, 21-14, Ashish bt Anurag 21-13.

Delhi Audit beat AG HP 3-0 (Apinderpal Singh bt Deepak 21-8, 21-9 (Sunil bt Sandeep of AG HP 21-7, 21-9, Apinderpal Singh and Sunil beat Vijay & Deepak of AG HP (21-10, 21-11).
