Balmiki delegation meets Ambala range IG Ambala | Saturday, Jul 5 2008 IST
A delegation of Balmiki community today met the IG, Ambala Range K K Sindhu demanding arrest of an absconding accused in the rape and murder of a minor Balmiki girl. The delegation, led by Balmiki Sabha district president Ved Prakash, in a memorandum alleged that Yamunanagar police had not nabbed the kingpin Kaka in the kidnapping, rape and murder of the girl. The girl, student of class eighth, was kidnapped by four youth of the Khanpur village while she was on way to the school on June 24 last. Later, they raped and murdered her. The Yamunanagar police registered the case against four accused Dharamvir, Shanti, Kaka and Bharat Ram. Kaka was rounded up but was let off under pressure, they alleged. The Balmiki Mahasabha members had threatened agitation if the absconding Kaka was not arrested by July 9. The delegation included Pritam, father of the deceased, Nan Singh Bidhu, state president Balmiki Berozgar Sena. -- (UNI) -- 05DR76.xml
