Rajde Trust to give away scholarships to young cricketers Mumbai | Saturday, Jul 5 2008 IST
Vijay Chowgule, a pioneer of Goa cricket and former president of the Goa Cricket Association, along with former India coach Anshuman Gaekwad and former Mumbai allrounder Deepak Jadhav have come together to form a Ramesh Rajde Trust in memory of the former Podar, Mahindras and Dadar Union allrounder. Ramesh Rajde had passed away at a young age last year. Ramesh Rajde used to play for Chowgule team in the Arlem trophy, which gave the first boost to Goa cricket, by providing interaction for local players with the Ranji and Test stars. The institution, by the trust of the Ramesh Rajde Scholarship will benefit players of different age-group of Mumbai. The awards will be given away at a function at the Garware Clubhouse here on July 7. The following people have been short-listed for the awards: Under-19: Chandrashekar Tathe, Sushant Khaire, Dhaval Kulkarni, Shivraj Deshmukh, Nikhil Patil (Sr), Pushkaraj Chavan. U-17: Suryakumar Yadav, Gaurav Jathar. U-15: Shivprakash Jaiswal, Jaideep Pardeshi, Pratik Prabhu, Harmeet Singh.
