Varsity Registrars summoned
Jabalpur | Saturday, Jul 5 2008 IST

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the Registrars of four universities of the state to appear before it on July 15 in a contempt case relating to inclusion of unrecognised colleges in the list of BEd colleges.

A division bench comprising Justices Deepak Mishra and K S Chouhan issued the order yesterday on a petition filed local Vikramaditya College.

The court summoned the Registrars of Ujjain's Vikram University, Indore's Devi Ahilya University, Jabalpur's Rani Durgawati University and Awadhesh Pratap Singh University of Rewa.

The petitioner contended that the varsities had included unrecognised colleges in the list of recognised BEd colleges and interpreted the court's directives in order to benefit certain unrecognised ones.
