New twist to NOIDA murders: STF takes over probe, SHO suspended
Noida | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST

In a new twist to the NOIDA murder mystery of 14-year-old DPS schoolgirl Aarushi Talwar, the body of the domestic help, accused of killing the teenager, was found on the terrace of the house this morning.

Within hours, the Uttar Pradesh government handed over the whodunit to the Special Task Force (STF) for investigation and tonight suspended an SHO of Sector 25 Police Station here for ''lack of investigation into the case.'' Investigators had earlier claimed an early breakthrough into the double-murder case. ''An early breakthrough is possible. We have got clinching evidence...it will be a short wait,'' said a senior police officer.

UP Police Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brijlal said in Lucknow that the STF has been handed over the probe of the sensational crime.

Soon after the recovery of the body, the girl's doctor father was interrogated for several hours.

Investigators went into a tizzy when the blood-soaked body of the domestic help Hemraj was found this morning on the terrace of the house where the girl was murdered.

SP (City) Mahesh Mishra had said so far Hemraj had emerged as a principal accused in the murder of Aarushi, the daughter of a dentist couple in Noida Sector 25. ''Since the body of the main accused has been recovered, investigations into the case have taken a new turn, detials of which would be unknotted soon by the police'' he said and added that the father of the girl was now being interrogated.

Aarushi, a student of Delhi Public School, Noida and the only child of her parents, was found murdered last night at her posh Sector-25 residence here.

Police yesterday had said domestic help Hemraj had come last night in an inebriated condition and attacked Aurushi with a knife.

Rajesh Talwar, father of the girl, is a well-known dentist working in Fortis Hospital, Noida. Hemraj, who hailed from Nepal, had been staying with the family in the servant's quarter of the house for the past eight months.

Sector-25 is occupied by high-profile people, including famous doctors and Army officers.
