Election officers will check EVMs before polling commences
Hyderabad | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST

Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao today said election officers will check the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) half an hour before the voting begins, in all polling stations in the byelection for 18 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats in the state on May 29.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Rao said the polling officers were given powers to check the EVMs to ensure that there should not be any complaints from any parties on the usage of the machine.

He said two election observers deputed by the EC would visit all Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies to take stock of the situation for the elections.
