Father-son killed in oxygen cylinder blast Jalandhar | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
A man and his son were killed in an oxygen cylinder blast at Malsiaha under Shahkot police station in the district today. Police said Balwinder Singh and his son Jasbir Singh, both used to run a gas welding shop, were killed in the explosion that took place when they were shifting oxygen from a cylinder to a self-made cylinder in order to avoid rent of the original oxygen cylinder. The explosion was so intense that the bodies were reduced to pieces, the police, said adding that another passer-by identified as Satbir Singh was also injured in the incident, who was immidiately rushed to a hospital. After proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC, the bodies were sent to civil hospital for postmortem, the police said. -- (UNI) -- 17DR80.xml
