RPI will have Bhim vada pav if Sena has Shiv vada pav: Athavale
Mumbai | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST

Republican Party of India President and MP Ramdas Athavale today said the RPI will have Bhim vada pav, if Shiv Sena has Shiv vada pav.

Speaking at a press conference here today to announce the entry of nomadic tribes and other backward class leader Sushma Andhare in RPI, Mr Athavale said Shiv Sena should not politicise the issue as several north Indians are in the trade. ''We will have Bhim vada pav if the Sena goes ahead with Shiv vada pav,'' he added.

Mr Athavale also criticised BSP leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayavati for installing her statues next to late Kanshi Ram's statue and said she is well aware that this is her last stint of being the chief minister of UP.

''Mayawati will not win the next elections as she has forsaken the ideology of Ambedkar and adopted the RSS way of politics, which will bring her end,'' he added.

Replying to a query, he said Shiv Sena should not vandalise the institutions which use the word 'Bombay', as the state government had passed a resolution with regard to the name change. Mr Athavale said Shiv Sena should ask the state government to make the establishments change their names.

Leaders of all the political parties, including leaders from north India, should refrain from making provocative statements and disturb the harmony in the metropolis.
