PM, Sonia wish Karunanidhi speedy recovery Chennai | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi today enquired about the health of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi, who is undergoing treatment for neck and back pain in a private hospital at suburban Porur. An official release here said Dr Singh sent a bouquet of flowers wishing Mr Karunanidhi speedy recovery. Ms Gandhi spoke to Mr Karunanidhi's daughter and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi by telephone and enquired about his health. Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala spoke to the 84-year-old Dravidian patriarch and enquired about his health condition. He also sent a bouquet to him. Meanwhile, Mr Karunanidhi's Madurai-based son M K Azhagiri, former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran, Congress leader K V Thangabalu and 'Vanniya Peravai' leader Jagathratchagan called on the Chief Minister and enquired about his health condition. Mr Karunanidhi was admitted to the hospital yesterday as he was advised rest. Doctors attending on him also suggested physiotheraphy for speedy recovery. -- (UNI) -- 17MS39.xml
