JD(U) to fight from all seats in MP Bhopal | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
The Madhya Pradesh JD(U) today announced that the party would field candidates from all 230 assembly constituencies during the upcoming assembly polls in the state. State JD(U) President Saroj Bachchan told reporters here that the decision was taken at the state party executive meeting that concluded here today. She claimed that the party was in a strong position in more than 75 places, while a five-member team has been constituted to gather information about situation of a particular candidate and possibilities of the party at other places. State election committee president Nageen Kochar would be the convenor of the committee. The committee would visit the whole state and submit its report within a month following which the names of the candidates would be announced. Ms Bachchan said the party was ready to enter into an alliance with small parties in a bid to form a third front against the BJP and Congress in the state. The party was holding talks in this regard with the Rashtriya Samanta Dal, the Gondwana Mukti Sena, the Samajwadi Janata Party, the breakaway faction of the Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) headed by Mr Prahlad Patel and other small parties. She denied forging an alliance with the Uma Bharti-led BJ stating that Ms Bharti had no public base left. The JD(U) leader claimed that public was disillusioned with the Congress and BJP. She held faulty policies of governments responsible for inflation and other problems of people. Earlier, the meeting discussed about organisational structure and membership campaign.
