Deshmukh assures help to Shridhar
Mumbai | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has assured every assistance to young researcher Shridhar Kamble to enable his visit to the US.

Shridhar, a 17-year-old youth from Tirvade village in Kolhapur district of the state, had penned a research article ''Theory of Galaxy Evolution'' which had impressed National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists. The NASA has selected Shridhar as a junior scientist.

Shridhar, however, has to bear the expenditure for the first two years but NASA will grant him scholarship in the third year.

Mr Deshmukh has directed the Social Justice Department to provide financial assistance to Shridhar. The Colorado University has also assured admission to Shridhar in the science faculty.

Shridhar had received an award from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre when he was in the eighth standard.
