Repolling likely to be held in three places in K'taka: CEO Bangalore | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) M N Vidyashankar today said repolling in three places was likely in Bellary, Raichur and Dakshina Kannada districts for problems connected with EVMs and confusion about the polling booths in the second phase of KarnatakaAssembly elections. Talking to newspersons here, he said the Election Commission (EC) had not yet issued the orders for repolling as the observers were still scrutinising the '17-A Forms.' ''The EC will issue the repolling order today and it will be only in two or three places at the most,'' he said. The percentage of voting for the second phase of elections was 67.8 per cent for ten districts that took part in the voting yesterday, he added. ''Incidently the percentage of 67.8 is common with the voting percentage of the last election conducted in 2004,'' he said. In many districts, per centage of voting had increased as the number of voters taking part in the election was much more compared to last election, he said. Udupi had recorded the highest per centage with 75.63 followed by Dakshina Kannada with 72.87 and Chikamagalur with 71.14, he said. Raichur recorded the lowest percentage with 54.01 among the ten districts, he said. -- (UNI) -- 17MS13.xml
