Probe corruption in Kanha Park: Uike Bhopal | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
Gondwana Mukti Sena Patron and Kanha Tiger Project member Darbu Singh Uike has demanded a probe into the alleged corruption and irregularities in the protection of tigers in the park. Mr Uike told reporters here today that since 2005 government had spent crores of rupees for the protection and growth of wildlife but due to alleged irregularities by the officers no welfare had been done for the park and tigers. Hence Kanha Park did not remain what it was a decade ago, he said. ''Four sambhars died in the Khafa buffer zone due to non-availablity of water water while five tigers died in the Gandhar area in last December,'' alleged Paraswada constituency MLA. He said though he had informed the state government regularly about the lack of security and improper arrangements in the park, but no action was taken so far in this regard. ''If state government do not pay heed towards the demands then my party will stage a dharna in front of the park's main gate to demand resignation from state Forests Minister,'' he added. -- (UNI) -- 17DR22.xml
