Naxal held, remanded in custody Rajahmundry | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
Police today arrested a Janashakti naxal at Gokavaram Mandal of East Godavari District. Police said Pandiri Anand, Janashakti Secretary for East and West Godavari Districts, was involved in land grabbing cases at Rajanagaram. He demanded Rs two lakh from a Former Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) Member in January this year along with his nine associates following which the MPP lodged a complaint with the police. A nine mm pistol was recovered from his possession. Anand was produced before V Additional Judicial I Class Magistrate here who remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.
