Tyre burst create panic before Sonia's Campaign Hubli | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
People ran helter skelter fearing a bomb blast when tyres of a vehicle burst on the road leading to the venue where Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi was to address an election rally. With last Saturday's explosion in the Court Hall fresh in the minds of the people, today's incident caught them unawares and they started running for cover. Ms Gandhi, who spoke for over 20 minutes at the rally, came down the stage and shook hands with women workers and waved at the crowd before leaving the venue. She introduced her party candidates of the third phase or election scheduled for May 22 to the people. Former Chief Minister S M Krishna, Vayalar Ravi, Pritviraj Chavan and H K Patil accompanied Ms Gandhi at the rally. -- (UNI) -- 17MS15.xml
