Life Cell International, a pioneer in stem cell banking, research and therapy in India, today announced the launch of its area office and collection centre in the city for umbilical cord blood steam cell banking. Speaking to newsmen here, Company Vice Chairman S Abhya Kumar said the company had a state-of-the-art stem cell processing and banking facility near Chennai conforming to the standards laid down by the American Association of blood banks. With an existing base of over 30 centres across Asia, Lifecell was now increasing its network in the country. As a part of this expansion activity, by the year 2009, the company planned to have over 50 centres to cater to the growing Indian market for stem cell banking, he said.
