6 militants killed in south Kashmir Srinagar | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
Six militants were killed by security forces in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir today, official sources said. They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint operation at Village Lurgam Tral, about 85 kms from here in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on a tip-off about the presence of militants there. During the operation, militants opened fire when the security forces were sealing the particular area. Security forces also returned the fire and in the fierce gunbattle, Six militants were killed.
