Ministers' vehicles damaged by NSCN cadres' relatives Kohima | Saturday, May 17 2008 IST
An irate mob, comprising relatives of the slain cadres of the NSCN, has blocked National Highway 39 at Diphupar and damaged three vehicles of two Nagaland ministers and a former minister by hurling stones. Official sources said here today the vehicle of Nagaland Forest, Environment, Ecology and Wildlife and Excise Minister M C Konyak was damaged by the relatives, who arrived at Diphupar yesterday to take the bodies of the NSCN cadres killed in the interfactional clashes at Seithekima. The convoy of the Minister was passing through the area while travelling from Dimapur to Kohima. Later, another convoy of Agriculture Minister Chumben Murry and former Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr T M Lotha, crossing the area with police escort, was also attacked by the angry people.
