A Special Squad of the Forest Department today seized 70 teak wood logs worth about Rs two lakh, allegedly kept ready for clandestine transportation through Marriveedu Canal. According to Forest officer M Sivakumar, the squad, on a tip off, conducted a surprise check at a hideout on the outskirts of Thimmapuram village under the jurisdiction of Rajavommangi Forest Range and effected the seizure.
