Nahan | Sunday, May 11 2008 IST

Himachal Pradesh Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) P S Rana today warned of strict action against Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) and Public Works Department (PWD) officers for failing to provide information to applicants on time under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Addressing the heads of various government departments and NGO personnel at Paonta Sahib, about 45 km from here, he warned of strict action against IPH and PWD officials for failing to provide necessary information to the applicants in future.

Mr Rana appreciated three NGOs-- Sirmaur Vichar Manch, Sirmaur Consumer Protection Society and Jan Ekta Samiti-- for their commendable work in public interest.

These private societies have done remarkable work in public interest, he said.
