Fire at tax office gutted essential documents Kanpur | Sunday, May 11 2008 IST
A major fire broke out in a room of the main building of the Income Tax department here today. Four fire-tenders were pressed into service from various fire stations. It took them about an hour to extinguish the raging flames. Several files, folders and essential documents were reduced to ashes, when the fire engulfed entire room of the office, fire station sources said. However, the reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the exact loss was being estimated.
