Thundershowers, hail lash lower parts of Himachal

Thundershowers followed by hail lashed the lower parts of Himachal Pradesh, while the remote areas of Pangi and Bharmaur in Chamba district experienced mild intermittent snowfall today, plummeting the temperature across the state, the Met office said. The minimum temperature of this hill states capital fell by over three degrees to stand at 9.5 degree Celsius, after 51 mm rains during last 24 hours from last evening. Yesterday, the town had recorded a night temperature of 12.7 degree. The Met office said Shimla towns maximum temperature also fell by about two degrees to 19.9 degrees as against 21.2 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature at Sundernagar fell by few notches to 13.1 degrees, after 38 mm rain during the last 24 hours as against 13.7 degrees, recorded yesterday, while Bhuntar recorded a night temperature of 11.5 degrees. The minimum temperature at Kalpa in Kinnuar district remained stationary at 2.6 degrees. The Met office said the maximum temperature at Sundernagar rose to 31.1, while it rose by three degrees at Bhuntar to stand at 32.5 degrees. The day temperature at Kalpa also rose by a degree to 19.9 degree Celsius, it said. The remote Pangi and Bharmaur areas of Chamba district experienced another spell of mild intermittent snowfall during the second half of the day, while thin clouds were prevailing over the tribal districts of Kullu, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur. Thin clouds also engulfed the tourist resort of Manali in Kullu district. The Met office has forecast rain and thundershowers, followed by hail at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hours. -- (UNI) -- 11DR76.xml
