EVMs used in Phase I polls in K'taka secured in counting centres Bangalore | Sunday, May 11 2008 IST
The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMS) used in the first phase of Assembly elections held for 89 Assembly segments in 11 districts in Karnataka yesterday were kept under heavy security in various counting centres, Election Commission officials said here. Police clamped prohibitory orders around the buildings and armed securitymen, including para-military forces have been deployed in all the districts, officials said. In the city, the EVMs were kept in six centres, two centres in Mysore and one each in Tumkur, Chikballapur, Kolar, BBMP, Bangalore Rural, Ramanagaram, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Bangalore Urban. Over 18,000 EVMs had been used in yesterday's elections. The counting would be taken up on May 25. -- (UNI) -- 11MS34.xml
