Nitish orders inquiry into death of minority commission member Patna | Sunday, May 11 2008 IST
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today ordered an inquiry into the death of Yaaqub Rine, a member of the state minority commission, in a road accident last night. Police today said Yaaqub died on National Highway 2 under Shivsagar police station area in Sasaram of Rohtas district. Expressing grief over the death of Yaaqub, Mr Kumar said he had asked the IG (Patna Range) to probe the circumstances leading to his death. ''The probe was ordered after family members of Yaaqub alleged that the accident, in which he was killed, was not normal but a well-hatched conspiracy engineered by certain anti-socials'', Mr Kumar said. Autopsy of the body was carried out by a medical board. Mr Kumar in his message described the departed leader as a great social worker and popular statesman and prayed to the Almighty to give strength to the bereaved family. -- (UNI) -- 11CA22.xml
