No paintings replaced with fakes: Ambika Soni New Delhi | April 15, 2008 9:45:06 PM IST
Tourism Minister Ambika Soni Tuesday said no paintings were replaced with their fakes at the prestigious National Gallery of Modern Art and Lalit Kala Akademi. Informing the Rajya Sabha Tuesday, the minister said there have been some allegations from certain quarters that some paintings had been replaced with their fakes. But she said no truth was found in these allegations. "The art works in the reserve collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art are warehoused under proper security and controlled environment," she said. The digitisation and cataloguing of these art works are proposed to be initiated during the current financial year. "The Lalit Kala Akademi has already authenticated all its paintings and is in the process of proper documentation to arrest any kind of possible mischief," she added. (IANS)
