Tibetan students organise candle light rally
Chennai | Sunday, Mar 16 2008 IST

More than 200 Tibetan students, studying in various colleges in the city, organised a candlelight rally last night condemning the Chinese violence on Tibetans in Lhasa.

The students, carrying lighted candles, took out a peaceful rally from the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Marina to Nungambakkam area in the city. Since Gandhiji was a symbol of non-violence, the Tibetan refguees chose the Gandhi statue as the starting point for the rally. The rally was also to pray for early return of peace in Lhasa.
