Tata Group announces second career internship programme

The Tata Group has announced the Second Career Internship Programme (SCIP) for women professionals with an attractive project fee of upto Rs four lakh.

The programme seeks to provide an opportunity and explore the expertise of talented women professionals, who have opted to take a career break after some initial years of work, a release said yesterday. The SCIP was open to women with qualifications in Management, Accountancy, Law or Engineering, with minimum four years of experience in functions like HR, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Manufacturing etc.

However, the applicants should have taken a career break of less than eight years, the release said. The highlights of the programme, besides a project fee included flexi time, 500 hours of engagement spread over five to six months, live business projects in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune, Project presentation to Tata senior management team and five days management programme at Tata Management Training Centre (TMTC), Pune.

Women professionals selected for the SCIP projects will get to work with the best of TATA managers, who will be their guide till the end of the project. At the end of the project, the candidate will have the option of transitioning into a full time employment. The Tata Group companies would offer projects across multiple expertise domain areas such as Marketing/sales, Advertising Communication, HR/Personnel, Manufacturing operations, Quality, Supply chain, Engineering (design/project/maintenance), IT, Corporate, strategy/ corporate planning, Finance, Accounting, Corporate, legal and Merger & acquisitions.

Commenting on the proramme, Tata Sons executive vice-president for HR Satish Pradhan said, ''This programme provides a platform to women who are ready to resume their career after taking a break/sabbatical for various reasons. We recognise that often women are ready to resume their career, but do not know where and how to start. Infact, they are apprehensive about even exploring opportunities keeping in mind their long career breaks. We have designed the programme with flexible time and remuneration as per industry standards. After the internship programme the candidates will have confidence of being placed for full-time employment across in the corporate world''.
