Red Ribbon Express crosses over to Madhya Pradesh
Kota | Monday, Dec 10 2007 IST

Red Ribbon Express, the train designed to create AIDS/HIV awareness, today completed its ten day sojourn in Rajasthan and crossed over to Madhya Pradesh. The train was flagged off from Delhi by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on World AIDS Day on December 1. During its ten day journey in the Rajasthan it covered Alwar, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur and Kota. During this period six cultural groups had performed dramas ''Chupi Thodo'' and ''Bimar Bhi Insan hai'' written by Tripurari Sharma and Alak Nandan. The dramas received overwhelming response from the people.

The director of the Rajasthan Zone of Nehru Youva Kendra Ms Anita Bhartiya said ''through the cultural groups following the train we have been able to reach out to about 1000 villages of four districts of Rajasthan''. She said Nehru Youva Kendra plans to establish youth clubs in all 1000 villages to mobilise youth power to work against HIV/AIDS and efforts will be made to multiply the message to reach all over rajasthan. The train during its 360 days 9000 km long journey will cover 42,750 villages touching 180 railways stations/halting points.
