Venkateswara Temple on high alert
Tirumala | Friday, Nov 23 2007 IST

In the wake of the serial blasts in Uttar Pradesh, security had been tightened at the Sri Venkateswara Temple here today.

According to TTD Vigilance Officials, quick reaction teams guarding the temple were put on high alert besides strengthening the security at the rear.

The temple had been identified as one of the six possible targets of terrorists in the country.

Security was also tightened at all other important temples, including Sri Varasidhdi Vinayaka Temple (Kanipakam) and SriKalahasti Temple (Srikalahasti) in Chittoor District, police said.

Search operations continued at busy places, including bus stands, railway stations and important places in the temple town, they added.
