US delegation meets LG, explores JV opportunities

A delegation from the United States which is currently in India to explore opportunities for joint ventures and partnerships with Indian companies, today called on Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna.

The delegation from Montgommery County, Maryland, US made a presentation about scope and opportunities, which could be jointly accomplished.

Mr Khanna also gave an overview of the vision, policies and activities of the Delhi Government. He said the government wanted to develop Delhi as a Knowledge city and a global cultural exchange centre.

He said Universities of Higher learning and centres of Excellence can play an important role by going beyond the books and with connecting business support with research in University, especially in the field of biologics and pharmaceuticals. He assured the delegation that the government was very much open to ideas and state of technology in area of security as to upgrade the standards of security in the capital because terrorism is a big question in India even before 9/11 and noted that in the present global scenario of security threat, the requirement of security related technology is going to increase in the future. The delegation comprised of Dr Pradeep Ganguly, Director, Economic Department Montgommery County, Ms Julie Coons, CEO, Technology Council of Maryland, Mr Jack Hollerbach, President and CEO Har Vest Bank, Ms Corinne Rothblum, Economic Department Montgommery County and Ms Fizzie, Economic Department Montgommery County.
