US varsity gives presentation on Nano City for Haryana

The University of California, which prepared the plan for the Nano City to be set up in Panchkula district of Haryana, today gave a presentation on the project before a high-level delegation led by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at San Francisco.

The Nano City Project, being developed by the Haryana government and Mr Sabeer Bhatia of Hotmail fame as a joint venture, had been conceptualised and planned by the College of Environment Design, University of California, Berkeley. Mr Hooda was impressed with the presentation and stressed the need for the optimum and efficient use of the resources like water and power, with utmost care for the environmental factors while planning the Nano City, an official release here said. Dr Li, Dean of University of California, Berkeley hosted a lunch in the honour of the Chief Minister Haryana and his delegation.

The delegation also visited the Headquarters of Googles at Silicon Valley. A presentation on the strategies of the Googles operation in particular to Asia was also made. The delegation had a tour of the campus and discussed the policies being followed by the company towards the human relations. The delegation also visited the museum of the University of Stanford.

Mr Hooda was given a warm welcome at MILPITAS, California, by the Indo- American community and Mr Sabeer Bhatia.

The Chief Minister also addressed the delegates and apprised them about the advantages the state of Haryana had with regard to the infrastructure, conducive environment and the locational advantage of the state, being close to the national capital, New Delhi.

At the end of the session, the investors had an opportunity to interact with the team of officers from Haryana wherein various questions related to investments, facilities available, concessions being offered by the Government were answered.
