'The Great Indian Butterfly' is closing film at IAAC Film Festival

White Feather Arthouse Films' maiden venture, ''The Great Indian Butterfly'', has been selected as the closing film at the Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival (IAAC) to be held in New York from November 7 to 11. White Feather Arthouse Films was started by Sanjay Gupta to promote independent cinema with daring content, to nurture talent in that realm and to give voice and platform to young filmmakers for exploring new vistas. Speaking on this, Sanjay Gupta said, ''I am very happy that ''The Great Indian Butterfly'' has been chosen at the IAAC Film festival.

White feather Arthouse Films was launched as we wanted to make path-breaking films that would cater to a niche audience looking for intelligent cinema and we were also looking at the international festival circuit and with our first project, ''The Great Indian Butterfly'', we have managed to do just that.'' ''The Great Indian Butterfly'' has been directed by Sarthak Dasgupta.

''Five years into the high flying corporate world, I realized that life needed a different definition. I left my cushy job and got down to writing and then gradually into directing,'' Mr Dasgupta said. Sensitive to human pain, Mr Dasgupta's film deals with inquiries into simple truths and meanings of human existence. In ''The Great Indian Butterfly'', unable to come to terms with the sacrifices required for success, a young urban couple takes a trip in search of a mystical butterfly. It brings peace, love, luck and happiness, if found. The director said that film deals with whether they survive the journey or will it wreck havoc on their souls. The lead cast includes Aamir Bashir, Sandhya Mridul, Koel Purie and Barry John.
