The Fantastic Four are back!
Mumbai | Thursday, Jun 14 2007 15:40:22 IST

The red carpet premier of the eagerly awaited second movie of Marvel Comics superheroes ''Fantastic four: Rise of the Silver Surfer'' was held here.

The movie premiered yesterday introduces Silver Surfer, a galactic surfing enigmatic anti hero, with powers that match the likes of Thor, the Hulk and the Submariner- some of Marvel's mightiest's heroes. The Fantastic Four's nemesis Dr Doom is also reprised, along with our four heroes.

With top notch professionals at the helm, including Tim Story as the director, the storyline is slick, the CGs' are awesome and the action is great.

Though India is not exactly a prime market for superheroes, FF2 should ring the distributors' cash registers, as it is a wholesome entertainment suited for both the older folks who grew on reading their comics and the younger generation who are used to newly packaged superheroes. The Fantastic Four made their debut in 1961 and have been one of the most captivating heroes in the Marvel universe. Unlike other super hero groups like the Avengers and the Defenders, the Fantastic Four line up has been stable over the decades. After all they are a family.

The first Fantastic Four movie was released in 2005 and grossed USD 330 million. One can expect the new movie to top that mark.

''Fantastic Four: The rise of the Silver Surfer'' is slated for a nationwide release in English, Hindi and Tamil on June 15.
