Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in Pune from Oct 12 Patiala | February 22, 2007 5:34:25 PM IST
The third edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games for under-18 boys and girls will be held from October 12 to 18 this year in Pune, according to Indian Olympic Association sources. Contingents from as many as 71 countries will take part in the Games which will include nine sports disciplines --- athletics, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling, tennis, table tennis, badminton, boxing and shooting. The IOA officials are already on the job to oversee various arrangements, including lodging, at Balewadi in Pune, where excellent infrastructure exists to host the Games, the sources said. The inaugural Commonwealth Youth Games were held in Scotland, while Bendigo, Australia, hosted the second edition of the Games. The Games, held every four years, preceding the Commonwealth Games, will be organised in Pune under the aegis of IOA. UNI JN JS1406
