Ten arrested on charges of burning SHRP President's car Gangtok | November 24, 2006 8:45:56 AM IST
Ten people were arrested from three different places on charges of burning Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad President A D Subba's car and assaulting his driver and a party activist. DIG Central Range A Sachdeva told newsmen here that the persons were arrested from Manpur, Mikhola and Kitam. An FIR was lodged in the Malli Police station in this connection. Later, police registered a case under different sections for rioting and causing harm. The miscreants were arrested following a massive manhunt launched by the police. As per the FIR, Dr Subba was on his way to attend a funeral and some other meetings near Malli when the vehicle developed some problems. While Dr Subba accompanied by some other party activists left for the meeting, the driver and another person tried to repair the vehicle. Just then the miscreants arrived there and beat up the driver and the party activists and set the vehicle on fire. Meanwhile, SHRP General Scretary T Shrestra alleged that the activists of the ruling SDF party were behind the incident. UNI BD KK KLC1727
