Curfew was relaxed for five hours in Kimti in Maharashtra's Yavatmal District on Thursday, two days after an angry Dalit crowd ransacked a police station. Yeshaswi Yadav, Superintendent of Police, said curfew would be lifted after 6 p.m. if the situation remained under control. "Now, we have given a relaxation in curfew from 1 pm to 6 pm. We will review the situation till then, and if things are under control then, we will lift the curfew at six pm," said Yeshaswi Yadav, Superintendent of Police. On Monday, residents of Yavatmal took to the streets after four low-caste Hindus were found murdered, allegedly by members of the upper caste. Mobs went on a rampage, vandalizing shops and looting valuables. Police have arrested one Vijay Patil, who was held responsible for publishing pamphlets which led to riots in the region. (ANI)
