Muslims burn Pope's effigy Allahabad | September 16, 2006 8:45:54 PM IST
A group of Muslims today burnt the effigy of Pope Benedict in front of the All Saints Cathedral Church in Civil Lines area here and souted slogans against him. The Muslims marched in a procession to the church popularly known as 'Patthar Girija' and burnt Pope's effigy for his alleged remarks against Islam and Prophet Mohammad. The group -- which later dispersed -- also threw stones in the church compound and damaged lamp-post at its main gate. Meanwhile, police jawans have been deployed near the church. UNI JL VS RL PM1927
