India hands over militants list to Bangladesh
Shillong | August 31, 2006 8:14:53 PM IST

India on Thursday handed over a list to Bangladesh of 103 militants and 172 militant camps operating on its territory.

Handing over the list, the Border Security Force (BSF) asked the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) to take action against Indian insurgents operating from Bangladesh territory and asked it to destroy the militant camps.

The list was handed over on the final day of a three-day coordination meeting between the border security teams of the two countries.

The list includes the names of ULFA Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, its General Secretary Anup Chetia, and top leaders of insurgent groups like the NSCN, NDFB, ATTF, NLFT, KYKL, PLA, HNLC and ANVC.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting BSF Inspector General for the Tripura, Cachar and Mizoram frontier S K Dutta said: "We have asked them (BDR) to take appropriate action against them".

However, the BDR has not handed over any list of militants and their hideouts in India, as they had done in the past.

The BDR had given a list of 79 such camps in Tripura and 10 in West Bengal during the last meeting. (ANI)
