Actor Nilu Phule to get Bagal award Kolhapur | May 26, 2006 5:43:38 AM IST Noted actor Nilu Phule has been selected for this year's Bhai Madhavrao Bagal award instituted by the Bhai Madhavrao Bagal Vidyapeeth here.Phule, a veteran Marathi and Hindi film actor, has played significant roles in films like 'Disha', 'Majha Pati Karodpati', 'Prem Pratigya', 'Saaransh' and 'Simhasan'. Vidyapeeth president Baburao Dharwade told mediapersons here today that the award is given every year since 1992 in the memory of social reformer late Bhai Bagal to people who have made an outstanding contribution in their respective fields. This year's award to Phule will be presented on Sunday, at a function here, he said. Earlier recipients of the award include - former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Mumbai Vidyapeeth former Vice Chancellor Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar, senior PWP leader Dr N D Patil, senior CPI leader Govind Pansaare and others, he added.
