JK police offers reward for clues about tourist's death Srinagar | April 11, 2006 5:46:16 PM IST
The Jammu and Kashmir police today offered a suitable reward to anybody providing clues about the circumstances that led to the death of Huang Sui Chin, a Taiwanese tourist whose highly decomposed body was recovered from Nigeen Lake on April 8 after she had gone missing from Nehru Park here on March 22.''We want to go to the bottom of the case and crack it as fast as we can,'' Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir K Rajendra Kumar told UNI here. He said the circumstances under which she died after leaving the houseboat have to be probed thoroughly before coming to any conclusion. ''We are also awaiting the post-mortem report. We are on the job and have appealed to the general public to help us in investigating the case,'' Mr Kumar added. Police have registered a criminal case and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar Muneer Ahmed Khan is investigating the matter. The authorities have also taken samples for DNA test. The SSP, through a general notice in the local media here, said any person having any knowledge about the facts and circumstances that led to the death of Huang or having ever come into contact with her during her stay here may contact him. He said the person could also communicate the information to his office on phone numbers - 2455047 and 2453897. Mr Khan said if the information provided led to the solution of the case, the person would be suitably rewarded and the identity will also be kept secret. The police also published Huang's photograph in the media. The body was consigned to flames at the Karan Nagar cremation grounds here yesterday in presence of her husband Liu Ching Feo, daughters Chiu Shu Yu and Liu Tsao Lin, their friends Kao Wei Chen Hsin Chi besides a three-member team from the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi and senior police officials, including Superintendent of Tourist Police M S Punnu.
