Cong asks LDF to announce Chief Ministerial candidate Kottayam | April 11, 2006 5:35:01 PM IST Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala today asked the Left Democratic front to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate.Addressing a press meet here, he said the ongoing controversy over the Chief Ministership in the CPI(M) might be to make the chances of politburo member V S Achuthanandan bleak. Mr Chennithala asked why CPI(M) state secretray Pinarayi Vijayan was abstaining from campaigning. 'Is it because of the ongoing CBI probe on the Lavalin case?' he asked. He appealed to the electorate to compare the performance of the previous LDF government and the present UDF regime. Noting that the UDF was contesting with a development agenda, he said the LDF and CPI(M) had opposed this for the last five years. A continuity of UDF governance was necessary for the development of the state, he added. When asked about DIC (K) leader K Karunakaran's statement on the next Chief Minister from the UDF, he said there was no confusion in and Mr Oommen Chandy was the candidate. He alleged the CPI(M)'s was allying with communal parties because of fear of defeat in the elections. UNI VST RL KP1715
