Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) president K Muraleedharan today said the Congress, which was leading the United Democratic Front, would decide the Chief Minister if voted to power. He told reporters here the Congress High Command would take this decision and other coalition partners would give unanimous support. When reporters referred to his father K Karunakaran's statement that it was the UDF partners who would decide the Chief Minister, he said there would be no difference of opinion in this regard. Mr Muraleeedharan said after the polls, his party would cut all ties with the Left Democratic Front, including withdrawing support in Local Bodies and resigning offical posts held by the party. Four party workers, who did not withdraw from the election despite the party's directions, were suspended, he said. The DIC(K)-Congress understanding had improved the winning chances of the UDF, he said, adding that while the present ralationship with the Congress was only for seat-sharing, other matters, including a merger, would be decided later discussions with party workers.
