216 polling booths sensitive: Collector Cuddalore Tamil Nadu | April 11, 2006 5:34:17 PM IST
Cuddalore District Collector Gagandeep Singh Bedi today said 216 booths have been identified as sensitive in nine constituencies for the May eight assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Talking to newspersons here Mr Bedi said 8800 people would be engaged for election duty in 1818 polling booths and the voter identity cards would be distributed to 90 per cent of the electorate on or before April 30. He said the total electorate in nine constituencies comprise 15,53,679, out of which 7,69,699 are men and women 7,83,980. Mr Bedi said the women electorate outnumber men in this district. Since this district is sensitive, army is expected to be deployed for the smooth conduct of poll, he added. UNI XR KVV RL PM1629
