Karunanidhi appeals to Sarathkumar to reconsider Chennai | April 10, 2006 9:48:18 PM IST
DMK president M Karunanidhi today appealed to actor and Rajya Sabha member R Sarathkumar to reconsider his decision to resign from the primary membership of the party.Expressing surprise over Mr Sarathkumar's announcement, he recalled the actor's speech in the party's state conference at Tiruchirapalli recently in which he proclaimed that he would remain with the DMK until his death and the party's flag should be draped over his body during the funeral procession. ''I just wonder what has happened in the meantime that changed his heart... I appeal to him to reconsider his decision,'' he said in a statement here. Earlier in the day, Mr Sarathkumar, in a letter to the DMK chief, said he was resigning from the party in protest against the ''humiliating treatment'' meted out to him by the people close to Mr Karunanidhi.
