PM, Sonia to campaign for UDF candidates Kozhikode | April 07, 2006 5:34:46 PM IST
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi will campaign in Kerala to support the United Democratic Front candidates contesting the April/May Assembly polls in the state.Talking to newspersons here Pradesh Congress Committee President Ramesh Chennithala said Mr Singh will visit various parts of the state, including Malampuzha and Koilandi in the district, on April 20 and Ms Gandhi on April 17 and 18, Detailed election itinerary of other leaders will be worked out later, he added. In Malampuzha, Congress candidate Satheeshan Pancheni (UDF) is pitted against CPI (M) strongman V S Achuthanandan (LDF) while in Koilandi, UDF supports DIC (K) leader P Sankaran against LDF's P Viswan (CPI-M).
