Elections notified in Mahe, Yanam Pondicherry | April 05, 2006 8:15:05 PM IST
The Mahe enclave in Kerala and the Yanam enclave in Andhra Pradesh, which are part of the union territory of Pondicherry, will have assembly elections on May 3 in the first phase, the Election Commission said Wednesday.There are two constituencies in Mahe - Mahe and Palloor - and one in Yanam. The last date for nominations for both regions is April 12. The scrutiny of nominations for Mahe and Palloor region will be on April 15, an Election Commission notification said here. The scrutiny of nominations for Yanam will be on April 13. While the last date for withdrawal of candidature in Mahe is April 17, it is April 15 in Yanam. The Congress party holds both the Mahe and Palloor seats. An independent candidate represents Yanam. Pondicherry and the Karaikal regions will have elections on May 8. (IANS)
