Chandy blames Oppn for backwardness of Kerala Kottayam | April 05, 2006 7:35:05 PM IST
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today blamed the opposition for the state remaining backward in development and employment sectors. At a meet-the-press programme here, the Chief Minister said the question was not who must rule the state but what Kerala should achieve in the next five years. Blaming the negative stance of the Opposition in the state, Mr Chandy said though the ruling and opposition parties were opposing each other strongly in Tamil Nadu, they stood united in matters concerning the state's interests. Referring to Mr V S Achuthanandan's statement that if the LDF was voted to power, the Smart City agreement would not be signed, the Chief Minister asked him to the state the reason for taking such a stance on the project. If the UDF was voted to power the Smart City will become a reality, the Chief Minister asserted. The UDF was approaching the people with confidence on the basis of the achievements during the past five years, he said. UNI VST SBJ KP1820
