PDP to back LDF in the assembly polls Thiruvananthapuram | March 31, 2006 3:34:25 PM IST
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) of Abdul Nasser Madhani will work for the success of the CPI(M) led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the coming Assembly elections in Kerala.Declaring the PDP's stand on the elections at a meeting here, party working chairman Poonthura Siraj said a decision in this regard was taken following a letter received from party chairman Madhani, a serial bomb blast accused lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison. In his letter sent from the prison, Mr Madhani alleged that the UDF government had failed to fullfil its promises to the party made in the last Assembly elections. Even it had not done anything for his release or getting parole. Though there were differences with the LDF on certain issues, the LDF manefesto focussed on the development of the state, particularly declaration of Rs 30,000 crore in agricultural sector and schemes for the welfare of the Backward communities, he said in the letter. In the last elections, the PDP supported the UDF. UNI CGV LR SP1358
