Cage cancels appearance at new film's screening after dad's death

Grieving Nicolas Cage has cancelled his appearance at a New York screening of his new film Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans.

Cage is mourning the death of his father, August Coppola, who died of a heart attack on Oct 27. He was 75, reports the Daily Express.

The retired college dean, and brother of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, August was laid to rest on Oct 29, in the presence of family and friends at the Christ the King Church in Hollywood, California.

According to the New York Post, Cage was set to walk the red carpet alongside co-stars Val Kilmer and Eva Mendes on 8 November vent, however, he has now bowed out of the screening. (ANI)
