Entertainment Old Beatles song took 40 years to complete
A song sung by the late George Harrison of the Beatles was completed 40 years later. Harrison -- who died in 2001 -- wrote down the first ten lines of a song called "Silence (Is Its Own Reply)" on a piece of paper in the 1960s. It was thrown on the floor of Abbey Road studios before it got into the hands of author Hunter Davies who wrote a biography of the band in 1968, reports thesun.co.uk. The lyrics were ignored till BBC Radio Merseyside host Spencer Leigh asked the songwriter Dean Johnson to finish them. Originally, it was thought that the lyrics were about love but it is now understood to be about Harrison's uneasy relationship with band mate John Lennon. "I'm happy to say it's only a dream, when I come across people like you, it's only a dream and you make it obscene," the lyrics said. Songwriter Johnson added: "The words were brutally honest and George was obviously writing from the heart. I tried my best to get into the mind of someone in his position." seva/pb/jg ( 191 Words) 2009-11-03-11:43:30 (IANS)
